ABSTRACT:
Women working in the corporate have to be agile to keep pace with the changing environment within the organization and in Asian households, females bear the major part of responsibilities. On these lines the prime objective of this paper was to try to measure the levels of coping with dual or multiple responsibilities of females or in other words, the Degree of Work Life Balance in them. An attempt has also been done in this paper to compare the Work Life Cultures of 20 Organizations, 10 MNCs and 10 PSUs. To achieve this, Work Life Index has been measured, respondents being females. Developed by Dr. UdaiPareek and Dr. Surabhi Purohit, Work Life Index (WLI) measures six areas - personal needs, social needs, time management, team work, compensation and work itself from the employee’s perspective. This study revealed that PSUs have a greater Work Life Index value indicating a greater understanding of Work Life Balance among the female employees. No great difference within the PSU organizations’ WLI scores was found, whereas MNCs have a variation in their WLI scores.
